The Area

The gite is situated in Passais La Conception, one of the better equipped villages in the area and the centre of the village is ten minutes on foot from the house. The village contains a butcher, boulangerie, a tabac and a restaurant (which is, at the moment, closed). There is also a bookshop and a small supermarket, Proxi, as well as two hairdressers.

There are two churches in the village: Eglise de Notre Dame de Passais and, on the outskirts of the village, the Chapel of the Oratory, built in 1853. The Chapel was built by a sick lady from Passais who promised to build a church if she recovered from her illness. A second chapel was built in 1857.

The much larger, though still modest, town of Gorron is 15 km away. Gorron contains a range or small shops. There is a Super U supermarket on the outskirts of the town. The picturesque town of Domfront en Poiraie is 13 km away. Domfront also offers a range of shops and a large Intermarche supermarket.
